maharishi Taps Graffiti Artist TEACH for Year of the Rat Artwork and Apparel

After dropping a limited edition print titled Each One Teach One with TEACH last year, maharishi has enlisted the British graffiti writer once again for a series of paintings, prints and T-shirts in celebration of the Year of the Rat. The collection draws inspiration from the photojournalist character played by Dennis Hopper — coincidentally born in the Year of the Rat — in the 1979 film Apocalypse Now.

For the pair’s latest collection, TEACH’s signature “YE” throw-up is transformed into an “Apocalypse Rat.” Using a technique that brings corrosive acid into contact with metal panels to create a rust texture, TEACH has laser cut 20 small-scale “TEACH” tag sculptures. In addition to the graffiti works, three signed, hand-painted enamel paintings on paper and an edition of 20 screenprints will be available. Two T-shirts are emblazoned with TEACH’s new rat design in the collection’s red, black and white color palette, while a sticker pack including all of the collection’s various designs finishes off the collaborative range.

Ranging from £5 to £750 (approx. $6 to $917 USD), the “Yeah of the Rat” collection will launch May 15 at 11 a.m. BDT on maharishi’s website.
