Sillage Celebrates DJ Muro's 35th Year Making Mixtapes With Printed Capsule
Drawing inspiration from two mixtapes from the Japanese DJ’s archives.

After partnering with ZEPANESE CLUB for a capsule of summer goods featuring custom-dyed textiles and artwork from Verdy, Sillage is celebrating legendary DJ Muro’s 35th anniversary making mixtapes with a special collaborative capsule. The collection is centered around two mixtapes from the Japanese DJ’s archives, Tropical Boogie and Diggin’ Ice.
Informed by loose-fitting silhouettes, the collared shirts are covered in two distinct prints made from aloha shirt fabric. The first pattern, which references Tropical Boogie, features songs from both the “Beach Side” and “Pool Side” of DJ Muro’s mixtape, along with dancing Hawaiian hula girls and tropical leaves. The Diggin’ Ice-inspired print integrates various covers of the mixtape into a retro print. Each shirt is accompanied by a small pouch in a matching fabric.
The capsule also includes handcrafted Daruma dolls — Japanese dolls which are traditionally modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen tradition of Buddhism — made by artist Kotobuki Jirushi. Available in a very limited quantity, the two variations of the dolls depict the DJ in his signature beret mixing music over turntables.
Take a closer look at the DJ Muro x Sillage collection in the slideshow above. The capsule will launch May 16 on Sillage’s website.
