Christie’s recently announced the launch of two online-only auctions: VICE and VIRTUE. The first installment, VICE, is comprised of artworks reflecting “hedonistic escapism” across diverse mediums including original pieces by KAWS, Barbara Kruger, Richard Prince, and many more. The second series, VIRTUE, plays with visual iterations of the archetypal seven virtues: prudence, fortitude, temperance, justice, faith, hope, and love. This sale features works by Andy Warhol, Jean Dubuffet, among others.
Highlights of both auctions include KAWS’ KAWSBOB (Open Mouth) Package Painting Series from 2009 that is estimated to sell for over $100,000 USD, Barbara Kruger’s Untitled (Your taste in your mouth) silkscreen from 2009 with a starting price of $250,000 USD, and Richard Prince’s Untitled (de Kooning) 2007 painting with a value of over $600,000 USD.
Artworks from VIRTUE are now available for bidding on Christie’s website with VICE’S sale taking place on May 12. All pieces will be available for viewing in a virtual exhibition.
