UNION LA and in･stru(mental)., the project helmed by Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO, have built a collaborative capsule collection launching August 7 to mark UNION LA’s 35th anniversary. The range pairs in･stru(mental).’s focus on silhouette and comfort with UNION’s community-rooted sensibility across a run of everyday staples.
The collaboration meets at a shared point between two distinct outlooks. in･stru(mental). is defined by a quiet approach to making, one built around chasing the right silhouette and the right feel on the body, while UNION brings a sensibility shaped by the city and the community around it. The 35th-anniversary milestone gives the two a reason to build something together, framed as a capsule that settles into daily life without losing a mood of its own.
That thinking plays out across the garments. The capsule gathers a coach jacket, a bowling shirt, a T-shirt, shorts and a cap, spanning easy layering and warm-weather staples rather than orbiting a single hero piece. The spread reflects the wearable, everyday intent at the heart of the project, with in･stru(mental).’s fit-first instincts guiding pieces that UNION’s audience can fold straight into rotation.
The release reaches beyond clothing, too. Planned jointly by both teams and photographed in Los Angeles, a limited ZINE documents the collaboration’s visual world, extending the LA backdrop that ties the anniversary project to UNION’s home turf. It is being distributed in limited numbers, positioning it as a collectible companion to the capsule rather than a throwaway lookbook.
The UNION x in･stru(mental). capsule launches first at UNION LA on August 7, with Japan availability set to follow from August 8. The accompanying limited ZINE is currently being distributed at Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO directly managed stores, UNION TOKYO and UNION OSAKA.
