Lloyd Links With Teddy Riley for Sultry R&B Groove "Slow Wine Bass Line"
The old school meets the new school.
The VERZUZ series on Instagram — started by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz — has already lent legendary musical matchups including a heavily watched (and friendly) competition between Babyface and Teddy Riley. Now, Riley has taken that momentum and joined Lloyd on the track “Slow Wine Bass Line,” which brings together old school and new school R&B in a groovy and sensual record.
“Slow Wine Bass Line” is Lloyd’s first single of the year, following behind his Tru LP that released in 2018. The song samples one of Keith Sweat’s previous hit singles “Right and a Wrong Way,” which Riley originally produced and wrote. Lloyd croons about turning the lights down low and the many ways he wants to please his love interest, as the sultry beat in the background rekindles thoughts of ’80s and ’90s R&B.

HYPEBEAST caught up with Lloyd last May in a Conversations With feature, where the artist talked about competitiveness in the music industry, and how one acquires longevity in his field. “Make [music] because you’re inspired by it because that’s what represents you and because you appreciate the power of the vocabulary, and expression,” he said.
Elsewhere for the singer, he joined Drake’s OVO Fest lineup last summer.
