Elon Musk Returns to 'The Joe Rogan Experience' for Two-Hour Interview
Everything from his baby’s enigmatic name to thoughts on COVID-19 lockdowns.
Elon Musk has returned to the The Joe Rogan Experience for a candid two-hour interview. The recent sit down follows Musk’s infamous 2018 appearance where the two sparked a joint while discussing everything from electric planes to the big tunnel project in L.A.
Catching up with each other, Rogan went straight into the podcast by describing all the joys of bringing a baby into the world, while noting the significance of the strange times Musk’s baby is born in. Musk later explains how Grimes mostly came up with the newborn’s enigmatic name X Æ A-12 — “She’s great at names.” When asked about the pronunciation, Musk clarified, “it’s just X, the letter X, and then the Æ is pronounced ‘Ash’ and then A-12 is my contribution. Archangel 12, the precursor to the SR-71. Coolest plane ever. It’s true.” He added, “I think it’s better being older and having a kid. I appreciate it more. Babies are awesome.”
Though Musk’s Tesla stocks recently reached its record $706 Million USD payout, the CEO seems to have more humble reservations about his wealth: “I think possessions kinda weigh you down. They’re kind of an attack vector. People say ‘Hey billionaire, you got all this stuff!’ Now it’s like, welp, now I don’t have stuff. What are you gonna do?” He wants to separate himself from inessential possessions and even plans on renting a place once he does away with “almost everything” that he feels is unimportant. The two discuss other topics, later on, centering largely on the subject of COVID-19 lockdowns and Musk’s opinion on how “[people] should be concerned about anything that’s a massive infringement on our civil liberties.”
