Yohji Yamamoto Drops Decadent Ankle-Length Coats for SS20
Adorned with knight-themed artwork.
After dropping its Spring/Summer 2020 boxing shoe-inspired footwear selection, Yohji Yamamoto has unveiled a range of long flare coats as part of its seasonal lineup. Each velvet coat features artwork of knights in action in a sleek wrap-around design. The elongated silhouette extends past the knees, serving as an elegant layering piece for the warmer months.
One jacket style boasts a double-breasted collar and a button-up closure for a more traditional and formal look. The second style features a large flap closure held in place by two different fastenings, as well as a subtle side slit. Covering a large portion of the body and ending at the coat’s bottom hem are images of the medieval warrior in ornately-decorated armor holding swords or riding horses. One graphic features a knight and its horse covered in a playful harlequin pattern, while another showcases a knight’s regal helmet and opulent red and gold armor. Small front pockets and tonal stitching finish off the coats’ designs.
