Rich Gains, Freddie Gibbs and Jonathan Chapman Collide for "Permanent Record"
Following Rich and Freddie’s “Final Say” collaboration.
Producer Rich Gains has reconnected with Freddie Gibbs and collaborator Jonathan Chapman for the new single, “Permanent Record.” The track follows last month’s “Final Say”, slowing the pace down for a smooth, jazz-infused offering perfect for vibing out in the current times of isolation and self-quarantines.
“I made this song in Jon’s living room the day or two after Thanksgiving last year when I was visiting the East Coast,” Gains told HYPEBEAST. “Brought the files back to Fred’s studio in Los Angeles to finish the record. Some electric guitar-based soulful rock sh*t I think the world needs right now. Jon and I have been jamming and working together since we were in high school and Fred and I have been working together for over ten years.”
Rich Gains most recently worked on the critically-acclaimed Madlib and Gibbs project Bandana serving as one of the main recording engineers. The multi-faceted musician also promised there would be more collaborations to come throughout the year.
