Sony Pictures Announce New 'Spider-Man 3' and 'Into the Spider-Verse 2' Release Dates
The delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sony Pictures is delaying Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 as the entertainment industry continues to get hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to reports, Marvel-Sony’s Spider-Man 3 will be premiering on November 5, 2021 instead of July 16, 2021 and Sony Pictures Animation’s Into the Spider-Verse 2 will see an October 7, 2022 release rather than the original date of April 8, 2022.
Both Spider-Man franchises saw major success in the box office, with Tom Holland and Zendaya’s live-action sequel Far From Home grossing $1.13 billion USD worldwide while Into the Spider-Verse went home with an Academy Award and $375 million USD worldwide.
The news follows Disney‘s recent announcement regarding the MCU Phase 4 release schedule that also revealed the new premiere dates of Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder and Captain Marvel 2.
In other entertainment news, Uncut Gems is finally landing on Netflix U.S. this May 2020.
