Air Jordan 1 Low "Gym Red" Nods to "New Beginnings" Pack
Familiar colorblocking comes to the low-cut silhouette.
The Air Jordan 1 Low is serving as a central piece of Jordan Brand‘s spring 2020 lifestyle lineup, and now it’s appeared in a timeless “Gym Red” colorway. With crisp design lines and classic two-tone colorblocking, the “Gym Red” offers strong shades of the Air Jordan 1 Hi ‘85 included in the ultra-limited “New Beginnings” pack — save for its low-top cut, of course.
From the white base and red overlays/Swoosh, this low-cut Air Jordan 1 mainly keeps things traditional. However, unlike its high-top counterparts it also adds an embroidered ball-and-wings logo on the heel plus Jumpman and 23 graphics on the throat This tongue is also constructed of a more padded nylon than the thin version used on its traditional counterparts. White midsoles and red outsoles finalize the look.
These AJ1 Lows perfectly encapsulate Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 1 strategy. New palettes will typically debut on an Air Jordan 1 High — the most popular AJ1 style — then in future months, move to the Air Jordan 1 Mid and Air Jordan 1 Low. It’s a clever play: Air Jordan lovers who missed out on the inaugural drop have an alternate option, and the second wave of releases also benefits from residual hype left behind by the first release.
The Air Jordan 1 Low “Gym Red” is available now at retailers like KITH, priced at $90 USD.
