Yung Mal Features Some Serious Atlanta Talent on New '6 RINGS' Project
Released with a new music video featuring Lil Keed and Lil Gotit.
After his rise to prominence through the duo Mal & Quill through the late 2010s, East Atlanta rapper Yung Mal has ventured off for some strong solo offerings, first with last year’s Iceburg and now with his latest 6 RINGS, a quick-hitting 12-track project full of rapid fire flows and strong instrumentals from producer Pyrex.
Mal landed a deal with Gucci Mane‘s 1017 label back in 2017 after his infectious single “Str8 Out Da Pot” gave him a cult following. What resulted was notable collaborations with some of Atlanta’s finest from Gunna and Lil Baby and even time in the studio with super producer turned rapper Pi’erre Bourne that resulted in their “Action” single.
On 6 RINGS, Young Mal’s double-time lyricism hits hard in one song, while he showcases his songwriting and ability to ride a beat with slowed-down vocals on “Molly” and “La Cienaga.” He brings some friends along for the ride too with brothers Lil Keed and Lil Gotit joining forces for the lead single “Shut Up.” “Blake Griffin” features another Atlanta transplant by way of Cleveland in rapper Doe Boy with a hypnotizing key pattern that elevates his guest feature to an entirely different level. Most of the production was handled by Pyrex, who recently collaborated with ManMan Savage for No Cosign earlier this year.
