Études & Wikipedia Celebrate Global Knowledge With Graphic SS20 Collection
Highlighting this season’s theme of “Diffusion/Illusion.”

After announcing its numerous collaborations for 2020, Études has dropped a Spring/Summer 2020 collection with an unexpected partner: Wikipedia. The collection highlights the Parisian label’s “Diffusion/Illusion” theme, which explores the erasures of borders and boundaries. As an online encyclopedia, Wikipedia allows knowledge to be accessed and circulated globally, emphasizing the benefits of a borderless world.
Expanding the dialogue between what we choose to wear and the world of knowledge, the collection includes button-down shirts that feature Wikipedia’s definition of ‘diffusion’ and ‘illusion’ in the form of screenshot prints. Wikipedia’s logo — an unfinished globe constructed from puzzle pieces — emblazons black hoodies, T-shirts and caps, while Études’ subtle branding finishes off the looks. Rounding out the collection are short sleeve shirts and shorts printed with symbols that showcase all of the languages Wikipedia is available in.
“The Études collection is a reminder that Wikipedia is much more than technology,” explains Zack McCune, Director of Brand at the Wikimedia Foundation. “Wikipedia is a cherished part of culture: a living system that brings the joy of knowledge to places all around the world. It’s delightful to see the Études collection bring Wikipedia to fashion, making our aesthetics of information into something you can wear.”

For more collaborations, Levi’s and Nintendo have teamed up for a Super Mario-inspired apparel and accessories collection.
