Kyoto-based illustrator Chocomoo and Reebok have teamed up for a special Instapump Fury Slide and apparel collection dubbed “Create Your Own Life.” The third collaboration between Chocomoo and Reebok’s Japanese arm, the artwork present across the capsule salutes independent women, the men who support them and the mutual respect that’s present in their relationships.
Dressed in black and embellished with white graphics, the Instapump Fury Sandal is an open-toed iteration of designer Steven Smith‘s iconic Instapump Fury. Although the upper has been stripped back to the bare essentials, there’s still plenty of room for graphics. These appear all over the Pump membrane and heel strap, nodding to the collection’s supportive, inclusive ethos.
Particular standouts include a television with “Women’s Rights” displayed on the screen and a portrait of a woman’s face surrounded by flowers plus a “Support Her” text graphic. A smiling, waving man with a dapper hat and hairdo accompanied by a “Proud Of You” text bubble is present as well, and his visage also graces the left shoe’s Pump button.
From a technical standpoint, heels have been chopped down to a single strap, and the midfoot’s cut-out accents remain present for increased breathability. The forefoot and throat swap out normal mesh construction for a stretchy neoprene bootie, while the footbed has been both slightly widened and flattened. Midsoles retain a two-piece design with DMX cushioning loaded in the heel and a carbon fiber shank under the midfoot. A crewneck sweatshirt, sweatpants and T-shirt emblazoned with the same hits as the shoes round out the offerings.
The Chocomoo x Reebok Instapump Fury Slide and apparel will release on the Reebok JP webstore come March 21. The sandal retails at ¥17,600 JPY (approximately $158 USD), and the apparel ranges from ¥5,159 JPY (approximately $46 USD) to ¥9,889 JPY (approximately $89 USD).
