Almost two months have resurrecting Saucony‘s Grid Azura 2000 silhouette, Bodega has debuted another collaboration based around the sneaker. The silhouette, originally an old concept model that never received a wider release, has been recreated in a colorway that replaces the optimism of the new millennium with a recognition of the problems of the past two decades.
Announcing the collaboration, Bodega explained that the theme “is not about being paranoid, and it’s not about being fearful. It’s about being prepared, even when you don’t know ahead of time what you are prepared for. The future isn’t always as user-friendly as advertised, but you’ll be ready.”
Dubbed “Ever Ready,” the collaboration sees the silhouette’s original mesh construction replaced with suede and leather across the upper, with only transparent mesh windows left in-tact. Elsewhere, nylon has been replaced by pebbled leather for the overlay. The sneaker’s colorway is also a contrast to the original design, with the bold futuristic aesthetic replaced with mainly earth tones, greys and blacks.
The Bodega x Saucony Grid Azura 2000 will release alongside an accompanying tracksuit on April 8. Both the apparel and the sneaker will be available from the Bodega web store.
