Roger Dubuis Unveils Double Flying Tourbillon Excalibur Twofold Watch
Three world premieres in one watch.
Roger Dubuis has just unveiled its Excalibur Twofold Watch. Three world premieres in one, this watch is a futuristic take on the watch manufacturer’s signature skeleton double flying tourbillon. The enhancements start at the watch’s 45mm exterior where the entire case and bezel have been crafted in Mineral Composite Fiber (MCF), an ultra-white composite material made from 99.95% silica.
The RD01SQ movement also receives an update in the form of an MCF upper plate that’s been treated to a patented luminescent paint that lasts 60% longer than traditional lume — even the Poinçon de Genève hallmark glows. Lastly, the Excalibur Twofold’s fluorocarbon rubber strap contains strips of LumiSuperBiwiNova, allowing for the strap the glow in harmony with the watch face. All three of these details bring the watch’s clean aesthetic to life when the lights are off.
Limited to eight pieces and priced at $276,000 USD, the combination of advanced materials with a complicated, and visually appealing movements is what continues to push Roger Dubuis further in the world of “Hyper Horology.”
