Trippie Redd Debuts New "YELL OH" Single Featuring Young Thug
From the upcoming Deluxe Version of ‘A Love Letter to You 4.’
At just 20 years old, Trippie Redd already has a discography impressive enough to reflect that of someone decades older. His most recent effort, A Love Letter to You 4, earned the Canton, Ohio rapper his first No.1 placement on the Billboard charts. Now he’s enlisted Young Thug for his latest single, “YELL OH” from the forthcoming Deluxe Edition of the project which will feature eight additional tracks and remixes set for a February 21 release.
The new offering comes just a week after Trippie teamed up with Los Angeles DJ collective Cheat Codes for “No Service In The Hills” that saw the rapper find the perfect balance between his rock ballad-esque melodies and the lush instrumentation. With “YELL OH,” Pi’erre Borune‘s minimalist production centers around choppy piano keys that cut in and out and hard-hitting drums that drive the rappers to trade quick-hitting, stream-of-consciousness verses.
“Melody comes first,” Trippie told HYPEBEAST Radio‘s MIC/LINE podcast last year about his recording process. “It’s not always been like that though. Sometimes I would just go, like back in the day, I would just go and the whole song would just be one freestyle [laughs]. But now it’s like, I’m careful about what I say and shit. I try to sit back and catch a melody first, ’cause I know the sound frequencies that everyone want to hear a certain thing over and over so I do that first. Then when I do that, I say the right things.”
