Converse unveils the Pro Leather Mid in a Boston Celtics-led colorway as part of the sportswear brand’s “Breaking Down Barriers” collection which highlights the first three African Americans who broke down the color barrier of the NBA. This particular silhouette celebrates the career of Chuck Cooper, who became the first African American to be drafted by an NBA team when he was picked by the Celtics in 1950.

Comprised of tumbled white leather throughout the upper, the design features green and yellow accents to represent the Boston team. The sides include an embroidered and satin overlay of Converse’s notable Star Chevron imprint, while the lateral adds “Pro Leather” branding. Additional design details contain the NBA Hardwood Classics emblem and stripes on the heel and classic Celtics logo on the interior.
