Versace Gives Its Chain Reaction Sneaker a Head-Turning Sandal Treatment
Continuing to play off the brand’s Greco-Roman iconography.
Versace’s Chain Reaction Sneaker flew onto the scene in 2018, making for a head-turning addition to the chunky sneaker trend. Designed by Salehe Bembury, the shoe took note of the brand’s Greco-Roman iconography through a massive chain-linked sole, with more thematic hints featured on the outsole’s design. Now the shoe’s inspiration comes full circle in the form of the brand’s new Chain Reaction Sandals, which resemble a contemporary update to Ancient Greek strap sandals.
On the black-colored footwear, mesh and leather intermingle on the upper, featuring woven logo hook and loop straps. More unique details that have been placed onto the shoe include Bembury’s braille lettering on the shoe’s toe box, an orange “Versace” tag on the lateral heel, as well as Versace’s Medusa Head logo placed on the sole. The sandals have been finished off with an orange insole toting the Chain Reaction logo.
