Anik Khan Depicts Foreigner Life in "Regardless" Video
Highlighting the paradoxes of being a person of color in NYC.
Queens rapper Anik Khan returns with his first video and single of 2020. “Regardless” examines the contradictions people of color in NYC experience, where one can be invisible and underrepresented, while also being hypervisible and targeted by the law. Reflecting on the circumstances of being brown and black in America where success often leads to suspicion, Khan navigates through the city with his crew while simultaneously getting pulled over by the cops. “I’m a foreigner with no options” he recites in his verses, reflecting on his own immigration status which kept him from touring Europe despite receiving accolades on the music charts.
