Along with its haute parfumerie efforts, CELINE has continued to develop its menswear offerings under the watchful eye of brand director Hedi Slimane. For the French labels’ Spring/Summer 2020 menswear campaign, Slimane lenses the “Portrait of a Performer” campaign, showcasing a host of gender-refuting garments and accessories.
Centering on Ryan Turner of rock band The Scarletts, CELINE’s latest campaign is anchored by several key pieces. These include the label’s signature ripped jeans, in straight and flared cuts, pearl necklaces and a progressive crop top, abetted by delicate blouses and trim floral shirting that highlight the season’s fluid intent.
Large “supersized” earrings underscore the femininity of the menswear looks, while more conventional staples appear in the form of satin varsity jackets, double-breasted blazers, leather trousers and metal bit loafers. The styling never strays too far from Slimane’s preferred retro rock aesthetic, but the expanded, conscious cuts and designs reframe it for a contemporary, adventurous menswear audience.
Fellow LVMH-operated label Givenchy is also gearing up for Spring/Summer 2020, launching a trek-ready footwear silhouette dubbed “Spectre.”
