Despite announcing his retirement five years ago after sustaining a neck injuring during his brief stint with the WWE, earlier this week 61-year-old Sting made his return to professional wrestling with his All Elite Wrestling debut.

Following a tag team match that saw Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin go up against Hobbs and Ricky Starks at AEW Dynamite’s Winter Is Coming event on TNT, “The Icon” made his first appearance in his signature ominous fashion.

With chilling music filling the arena and snow falling, Sting, real name Steve Borden, made his way down to the ring to stare down each wrestler as the crowd wild. Making his quit exit, announcers noted the monumental occasion and noted that the last time Sting appeared on TNT was the final episode of WCW Monday Nitro on March 26, 2001 when he bested Ric Flair.

Following the appearance, AEW announced that it has signed Sting to a multi-year contract and revealing that the wrestler’s new AEW T-shirt quickly broke its single-day record for merch sales.
