GmanModz has just broken the 2015 record for the world’s smallest portable Nintendo 64. Unlike emulators, this build uses real parts from the original N64 (non-redesigned printed circuit board), and its compact design is attributed to modern technologies like 3D printing and the smaller Joy-Con thumbsticks, but mostly the ingenuity of GmanModz.

Using traditional techniques like board trimming and component relocation, the handheld N64 accommodates a 3.5 inch LCD display (not much bigger than a Nintendo 64 game cartridge), a headphone jack/speakers, and a lithium-ion 18650 battery cell that can power the console for 1.5 hours. The device can also be played and charged at the same time.

Check out the video above to watch the complete breakdown of how GmanModz achieved such an amazing gaming feat.

In other gaming news, Kanye West almost created a video game with Nintendo.
