CARIUMA's Eco-Conscious Kicks Receive a Pantone-Tinged Makeover
“Ultimate Gray” and “Illuminating” OCA Lows dropping in time for 2021.

CARIUMA‘s penchant for eco-friendly footwear has drawn countless admirers as the footwear industry at large — both luxury and sportswear alike — makes a shift towards production that’s assumed to be less harmful than conventional manufacturing processes. As such, CARIUMA’s latest offering is less a victory lap and more of a look ahead, as the Brazilian brand issues a pair of colorful OCA Low sneakers informed by Pantone’s 2021 Color of the Year selections.
Realized in “Illuminating” (yellow) and “Ultimate Gray,” the versatile low-top OCA Lows’ uppers are saturated in each tone, from laces to sturdy GOTS-certified organic cotton canvas. The vegan sneakers also feature a treaded outsole of recycled rubber and memory foam insole crafted from plant-based textiles to ensure peace of mind. Finally, CARIUMA will plant a pair of trees in the Brazilian Rainforest for each pair of sneakers purchased in a bid to aid reforestation efforts.
Pantone’s two color selections may seem at odds — muted grey and bright yellow — but CARIUMA describes the two as “a new-aged version of the Yin and the Yang – a reminder that both light and dark exist harmoniously and in tandem.” This duality is reflected in a hit of Pantone branding towards the rear of each sneakers’ lateral side, executed in either “Illuminating” or “Ultimate Gray” to contrast against the single-toned upper.
Pre-order both colors of the special Color of the Year OCA Lows on CARIUMA’s website for $89 USD apiece.
Most recently, CARIUMA introduced an exclusive pair of CATIBA PRO sneaker for The Berrics.
