OVO x ROOTS FW20 Collection Takes Us Back to the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics
With a lookbook featuring Ross Rebagliati.

A look at OVO‘s upcoming collaborative collection has just been unveiled. This time around, the Canadian brand is throwing it back to its home country with a special capsule with ROOTS.
Making this extra special is the lookbook which features none other than the Canadian national treasure, Ross Rebagliati. Many remember Ross Rebagliati from the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, where Rebagliati took home a gold medal in men’s snowboarding (giant slalom). The event caught media attention, not only for Ross’ performance but also because it was later discovered that he had THC in his system. Rebagliati was eventually able to hold on to his medal, and as a result of the extra attention due to the ordeal, came out as one of the biggest advocates for medical cannabis — destigmatizing marijuana use across the nation.
Apart from Ross’ gold medal in Nagano, Roots also played a big role for Canda in the Winter Games. Many will recall the iconic red and white ROOTS team Canada varsity jackets as well as the newsboy caps. The newsboy cap was one of the most sought-after items during the Winter Olympics and would eventually sell over half a million units.
The OVO x ROOTS collection is made up of a half-zip, T-shirt, varsity jacket, and hoodie. Letting it be known of its Canadian roots are a multitude of embroidered Canadian flags, the ROOTS beaver, and the OVO Owl. Check out the lookbook above and expect the collection to drop later this month.
