Matt Gondek Releases 'CYBERBULLY' Digital Sculptures
With the chrome variant fetching over $3,000 USD at auction.
Following a sculpture edition with Honorroller, Los Angeles-based artist Matt Gondek is the next artist to team up with Nifty Gateway on an exclusive collaboration. The digital collection features six editions of Gondek’s CYBERBULLY character holding a bat with spikes inspired by Walt Disney’s Donald Duck. Options include yellow, pink, teal, white and chrome editions.
Gondek is widely known for his interdisciplinary practice that encompasses painting, sculpture, installation and public art. The artist’s works are largely inspired by pop culture cartoons. He’s especially fascinated by the vivid colors, bold lines and accessibility of comic books. When asked about his inspirations, the artist told HYPEBEAST in an interview: “ I grew up with these characters and imagery pounded into my brain on a daily basis. How could I ignore them when finding my voice?”
Although most colorways have sold out, the chrome edition is currently being auctioned on Nifty Gateway’s website with a current bid of $3,400 USD.
Elsewhere in art, the Cleveland Cavaliers have appointed Daniel Arsham as its inaugural creative director.
