'Coming to America' Sequel Receives Amazon Prime Video Release Date

Eddie Murphy‘s Coming to America sequel has officially received a release date for Amazon Prime Video.
According to reports, Coming 2 America will be helmed by Murphy’s Dolemite Is My Name director Craig Brewer, and will see King Akeem (Murphy) and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) once again travel to Queens from Zamunda to meet Akeem’s long lost son and his heir to the throne. The pair will be joined by a stellar supporting cast that includes James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, Louie Anderson, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, Nomzamo Mbatha and Teyana Taylor.
The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in August 2020 but was cancelled due to COVID-19.
“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a previous statement. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”
Coming 2 America premieres March 5, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Marvel will reportedly start filming Black Panther 2 in July 2021.
