Take a Closer Look at the Original 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie' Costumes
Set to be up auctioned for the very first time.
Ahead of its Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction taking place in December, Prop Store invited the folks from Adam Savage’s Tested for a preview of all the props and costume set to be available.
Standing out amongst the slew of pop culture items, are the original costumes from 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. The closer look reveals the layered construction and hidden details found on the suit and helmets to be auctioned for the very first time.
It is interesting to note that the movie costumes were created exclusively for the 1995 Hollywood blockbuster and that the designs reflect an American spin on the looks established by the Super Sentai series Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger.
Maintaining bright tones and diamond accents, the Power Rangers: The Movie suits start with a spandex base treated with latex outfitted with urethane armor and vinyl cuffs. While the fiberglass helmets build on the original designs for a more distinct stylized look to top each of the six ranger costumes up. Prop Store notes that the Yellow Ranger has a one-off helmet design outfitted with lights for a scene where Aisha Campbell is tasked with illuminating a dark parking garage in a fight against Ivan Oozes’ Tengu Warriors.
Catch Tested’s closer look at the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie costumes above and head over to Prop Store to check out the full catalog of items up for auction December 1-2.
