sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle Receives Official Release Date
A double-stacked sneaker that combines new and old by mixing design cues from the 1983 Pegasus and the record-breaking Vaporfly.

Sneaker lovers the world over have been thirsting after the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle since sacai’s FW20 runway at Paris Fashion Week in January, and now, after a long nine months of teasers, rumors, speculation and leak photos, Nike has finally announced the sneaker’s official release date. Combining elements of two influential Nike Running silhouettes — 1983’s Pegasus and 2017’s record-smashing Vaporfly — the Vaporwaffle is an intricate homage to the Swoosh’s history and an apt follow-up to sacai’s ultra-popular LDVWaffle.
Although multiple colorways have been previewed over the course of the year, the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle is set to kick off the festivities with sporty white/red/blue and stark black/white makeups. Each is centered around a double-stacked midsole with an elongated heel and a raised lip. Atop this fashion-forward foam assemblage sits a mesh, suede and leather upper that furthers sacai designer Chitose Abe‘s “twice as nice” aesthetic.
Tongues, Swooshes, heel branding and laces are all doubled up, and experiment with different tones and textures — for example, one Swoosh on each shoe is presented in leather a la the Pegasus, while the other is printed and low-slung, dropping down into the midsole in Vaporfly style. A simple stripped-back mesh base and Bill Bowerman-esque waffle outsole round off each look.
Both colorways of the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle are set to release on Nike SNKRS come November 13, and are priced at $180 USD.
