sacai's FW20 is a Medley of Military and Punk Inspirations
Chitose Abe also revealed more collaborative Nike sneakers.
Back in November, rumors of sacai‘s next collaborative sneaker with Nike started circulating, with reports speculating that a hybrid PEG (Pegasus) Vaporfly SP silhouette would mark the duo’s forthcoming project. Today, sacai’s runway show at Paris Fashion Week offered a first look at the anticipated footwear, confirming the make and three variations of colorways: “Black/Summit White/Pure Platinum”, “Sail/Sport Fuchsia/Light Bone/Game Royal” and “String/Black-Villain Red/Neptune Green.” The duo’s innovative Nike LDWaffle became one of the best sneakers of 2019 and it appears they are looking to continue the doubled-up motif for 2020, complete with co-branded tags, a deconstructed outsole and varying Swoosh designs.
The fuschia, royal blue and olive green colorways extended itself into Chitose Abe’s direction for sacai’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection. An amalgamation of animal and celestial-inspired prints, juxtaposed with silk, tweed, wool and quilted fabrics all came together harmoniously in the form of two-piece sets, pleated skirts, asymmetrical tops and more. A master of fusing contrasting styles, Abe’s avant-garde outerwear ranging from athletic-led trench coats to colorful puffers took center stage as accessories like oversized chain necklaces and branded baseball caps wove the lineup together.
The sacai x Nike Pegasus Vaporfly is expected to release later this fall. Scroll through the gallery to get a closer look at the collection and see what went down backstage during sacai’s Paris Fashion Week show.
