Take a Closer Look at the Off-White™ x Air Jordan 5
Recalling elements established with Virgil’s previous “Ghosting” releases.
Becoming the talk of Paris Fashion Week after being unveiled at Off-White™‘s Fall/Winter 2020 presentation, we now have a closer look at the previously rumored Off-White™ x Air Jordan 5.
Despite early conflicting rumors, the was officially revealed on the feet of models and Virgil Abloh during the show, the upcoming collaboration reimagines the OG “Black Metallic” colorway classic Jordan Brand silhouette with a striking translucent TPE deconstructed design. The signature midfoot cages on the shoe have also been opened up with circular cutouts and accented by exposed black stitching, recalling elements established with Virgil’s previous “Ghosting” releases.
Branding comes in the form of Jumpman marked 3M reflective tongues, upside-down “AIR JORDAN” patches, “23” marked at the heel, Nike Air motifs at the rear and classic logo motifs on the outsole. Other continuing elements of Virgil and Nike’s ongoing collaborative partnership include Helvetica industrial text printing on the medial midfoot, “SHOELACES” emblazoned on the lace tips and a black iteration of Off-White™’s signature plastic zip-tie hangtag. Elevating the shoe is a black midsole with speckled grey splashes paired with yellow-ed translucent rubber outsoles to simulate a worn look.
Although a release date has yet to surface, the Off-White™ Air Jordan 5 has been rumored to arrive in February around NBA All-Star Weekend or sometime in April and priced at $225 USD.
