Netflix Releases ‘Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution’ English Dub Trailer
It will make its Netflix debut on Netflix this February.
Netflix will debut Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution worldwide for the first time outside of Japan and Korea. The film serves as a CGI-remake of the original Pokémon: The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back from 1999. The title also follows Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and Brock meeting the legendary Mewtwo following the discovery of its own heinous origin.
This remake serves as a reimagining and will use its nostalgic charm and updated visuals to enrapture an entirely new generation of fans. The movie was a success in Japan, where it arrived as one of the top-grossing films during its opening weekend last year, which also happened to debut on the film’s 20th anniversary.
“The ubiquitous reach and expert team at Netflix make them the perfect partner to bring this special animated movie to kids and fans around the world,” said Emily Arons, senior vice president of international business at The Pokémon Company International. “Netflix is the ideal platform to help us execute a global simultaneous launch of an animated Pokémon movie on Pokémon Day, a special moment dedicated to celebrating the worldwide Pokémon fan community.”
