Nike Air Flight '89 "Chicago" Is Ready For All-Star Weekend
With a colorway and details inspired by the Windy City’s flag.
NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago is right around the corner, so Nike Sportswear‘s Air Flight ‘89 is getting a jump on the festivities with an aptly-timed “Chicago” colorway. Presenting hues and details inspired by the Windy City’s flag, this bold silhouette plays up its Nike Basketball heritage and connection to the Chicago Bulls — it was frequently worn on-court by one Scottie Pippen — in compelling style.
A sky blue is used for the base tone on the smooth leather upper, covering each layered panel and the loftily perched Swoosh on the collar. This is quickly accented by a bright red tone on the top and bottom eyestays, tongue branding and special heel hits, which include four embroidered stars around a Nike Air logo for the shoe’s most direct nod to the aforementioned banner.
Crisp mixes of white and soft grey on the Air Jordan 4-style midsole work with the white sockliner to provide airy contrast and introduce a little Michael Jordan-adjacent style. A special patch on the inner tongue adds hidden flair and a vibrant red outsole wraps up the look.
The Nike Air Flight ‘89 “Chicago” is available now at retailers like Oneness, priced at $120 USD. With All-Star Weekend set to tip off on February 14, you can expect more themed releases from Nike over the coming weeks as well.
Chicago native Don C recently threw his hat into the All-Star ring as well when his wife showed off a new Just Don x Air Force 1 High collaboration on her Instagram.
