adidas' Newest UltraBOOST Guard Is Ready For Inclement Conditions
A winterized take on the beloved runner.
adidas‘s ever-popular UltraBOOST is set to celebrate its 5th anniversary this February, but before the book closes on the UB’s first five years, a winterized makeup dubbed the UltraBOOST Guard has been presented in “Core Black/Green Tint.” A beefed-up take on the beloved runner, the Guard retains signature UltraBOOST comfort, but adds a more hardy style that’s ideal for inclement conditions.
Discarding Primeknit construction in favor of a winter-ready ripstop and neoprene mix, the Guard also adds taped seams and water-repellant material along the length of the upper. All of these pieces are dressed in a stark black, with a black Three Stripe midfoot cage providing texture. Although it’s decidedly designed for serious climates, the UltraBOOST Guard isn’t bereft of warm detailing either. A soft “Green Tint” hue is present on the heel clip and pull tab, while warm orange appears on the sockliner, technical forefoot tab and heel’s Three Stripe embellishment. A black BOOST midsole and hardy Continental rubber outsole complete the look.
The adidas UltraBOOST Guard “Core Black/Green Tint” is available now at adidas China for ¥1399 CNY (approximately $203 USD). A US release may follow in the coming weeks.
Moving from performance to lifestyle, adidas Originals made headlines earlier this week when Nigo took to his Instagram to announce a HUMAN MADE Stan Smith collaboration.
