After debuting on Air Max Day in March, Nike‘s power-lacing Adapt Auto Max has seen a relatively sparse release schedule — but now it’s back for the fall in a new “Life Lime” makeup. Boldly bolstering its stark base with neon-hued accents, the “Life Lime” uses its vibrant color palette to further its futuristic ethos.

Sleek black synthetics and black Swooshes are the name of the game on the forefoot and midfoot, while the heel clip introduces the first pop of color with a bold neon pink. Neon green trim is present around the tongue, which is held in place by four power lacing strips. Extended heel pieces are embellished with a neon green Swoosh, and balloon outwards before curving back in and dropping to the midsole.

This extra-thick midsole is made of EVA foam, done up in wolf grey with abstract black scribbles. The midfoot houses the Adapt Auto Max’s electric-powered motor system, which tightens or loosens the aforementioned lacing strips. This motor is charged by an included pad, and the fit can be adjusted via an app on the wearer’s iPhone or Android device. This app can also be used to control the color shining through the buttons when the motor is powered up. If you’d prefer a more rudimentary method of adjustment, the buttons themselves can be pressed to change the fit as well. The entire assemblage is protected by a high-rising black rubber outsole, and a large Air Max 1-style unit in the heel nods to visible Air’s genesis.

The Nike Adapt Auto Max “Life Lime” will release on September 18 via retailers like END. and is priced at $400 USD. Interestingly enough, it can only be shipped regionally, due to country-specific chargers and international regulations around the transport of lithium batteries.

Moving from Air Max to Zoom, Nike’s Zoom Double Stacked is set to release in a new “Summit White” colorway.
