This month, KUON is opening up its first flagship store in Harajuku, Tokyo. The traditional two-story row house, called Nagaya, will house KUON’s seasonal collections, while the traditional Japanese room in the store will provide a made-to-order service. The exterior and interior of the shop, designed by Osaka-based firm Kanome, references a made-to-order Kimono shop. A gravel and stepping stone pathway, evoking the feel of a Japanese garden, welcomes visitors into the store.

Simple lighting, wooden structures and Japanese decorations inform the new space. Clothing racks, inspired by Japanese swords, display the label’s classic offerings. Boro patchwork jackets, indigo-dyed tops and satin stadium jackets with multi-colored sleeves showcase Shinichiro Ishibashi’s eye for blending Japanese and contemporary elements. Like his creative vision for the label, the store is modern, yet steeped in Japanese heritage.

Take a closer look at KUON’s new flagship in the slideshow above. The store is expected to open on September 26.

In other news, clothsurgeon has repurposed vintage bandanas for a 10-piece collection called “PATCHWORK BANDANA_13.”
