Andersson Bell has opened its first Japanese flagship in Tokyo’s Aoyama district. The three‑floor store, co-designed by architecture studio I IN, blends brutalist structure with vibrant color and light to express the brand’s “beauty of contrast.”
The flagship occupies a 1993 brutalist building, reimagined with bold color palettes, glossy materials and dynamic lighting to reflect Andersson Bell’s ethos of merging opposites — classic and modern, minimal and expressive. The design narrative emphasizes contrast, with raw concrete surfaces juxtaposed against polished finishes, creating a space that feels both industrial and refined. Spread across a basement and two above‑ground floors, the store functions not only as a retail destination but also as a cultural hub, intended to foster connections with Tokyo’s creative community.
To mark the opening, Andersson Bell introduced store‑exclusive items, including a unisex graphic T‑shirt priced at ¥19,800 JPY (approx. $126 USD) and a limited‑edition heart‑shaped leather keyring with a built‑in measuring tape, retailing at ¥9,900 JPY (approx. $63 USD). Both items incorporate the brand’s storytelling motifs, with the T‑shirt featuring poster‑like graphics and the keyring inscribed with the phrase “COINCIDENCE MORE LIKE DESTINY’S PRE‑GAME.” These exclusives highlight Andersson Bell’s commitment to blending fashion with narrative detail, making the flagship a destination for collectors and fans.
The opening coincided with the release of Andersson Bell’s FW26 campaign, shot in Tokyo and featuring model SUMIRE under the lens of photographer Kazunori Usui. Creative director Dohun Kim emphasized Tokyo’s long‑standing influence on the brand, positioning the flagship as a new base for cultural exchange and collaboration.
