Aaron Paul Teases the 'Breaking Bad' Movie With New Instagram Post (UPDATE)
A possible flashback to season 3.
UPDATE (September 9, 2019): With the film’s release just one month away, lead actor Aaron Paul dropped a new teaser image on his Instagram channel. The image depicts Paul’s character Jesse Pinkman wearing what resembles the yellow lab suits the meth-cooking duo wore during season three of the original Breaking Bad series. With Bryan Cranston‘s comments about hoping to reprise his role for this movie and fan theories about possible flash backs, Paul’s teaser could be an actual flashback to a time around season three, especially when coupled with the caption “Hello old friend” — a possible nod to his partner-in-crime Heisenberg.
Just in case you missed it, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will be releasing on October 11 on Netflix.
ORIGINAL STORY (August 25, 2019): Just days after actor Bob Odenkirk (who plays Saul Goodman) revealed that the long-anticipated Breaking Bad film had already been shot, Netflix has now revealed the date for the project’s release via a newly released teaser trailer. The film, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, “reunites fans with Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.” The film continues with Breaking Bad creator and visionary Vince Gilligan helming the project as writer and director.
Within the teaser, Skinny Pete — one of Pinkman’s longtime associates throughout the series — can be seen being interrogated by FBI agents asking of Pinkman’s whereabouts. Pete, familiar with his friend’s history alongside Jack Welker’s white supremacist gang, questions the FBI’s purpose, further asking why he would help put his friend into another “cage.”
While the film’s synopsis doesn’t include Bryan Cranston or his Walter White character, it wouldn’t come as a surprise for the actor to reprise his role within the film. After all, the actor has shared that he hoped to revisit his iconic Heisenberg character, and various rumors speculate that the project will include flashbacks, as well as more prequel motifs.
You can check out the full teaser trailer and date announcement above. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie arrives via Netflix on October 11.
