UNIQLO's Debut 'LifeWear' Magazine Celebrates Timeless Garments
Directed by former ‘POPEYE’ editor-in-chief Takahiro Kinoshita.
Further expanding upon its day-to-day lifestyle ethos, UNIQLO is launching a free magazine called LifeWear. Referencing UNIQLO’s concept of perennial tastefulness, the publication is set to release new issues biannually for the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons.
The new publication will focus on deep-dive stories related to UNIQLO’s offerings as well as profile pieces and city guides. Former POPEYE editor-in-chief and current Fast Retailing creative director Takahiro Kinoshita is overseeing the editorial direction of the magazine.
Issue 01 of LifeWear is simultaneously timeless and timely, featuring both upcoming collections and detailed explorations of style. The issue features an interview with UNIQLO brand ambassador Roger Federer, a preview of its collaborative JW Anderson Fall/Winter 2019 collection, a detailed look at the history of fleece outerwear, a window into the mind of UNIQLO U collaborator Christophe Lemaire and more.
To commemorate LifeWear‘s launch as well as the company’s 25th year using fleece as a material, the UNIQLO Ginza store is currently hosting a special exhibition. Physical copies of the magazine will be distributed in UNIQLO’s Japanese locations beginning August 23, with a Western release date coming in time for the Fall collection’s rollout.
In the meantime, read LifeWear in English on UNIQLO’s website. Take a video tour through Issue 01 above.
UNIQLO’s 25 years of fleece will also be celebrated with a special military-inspired capsule collection designed by Engineered Garments.
