Benny The Butcher Rides Around His Old Block in "5 to 50" Video
The visual was directed by Otto the Director.
Griselda’s standout Benny The Butcher drops the music video for “5 to 50,” a cut off his newest project The Plugs I Met. In the music video — which has Otto the Director behind the lends and fellow labelmate Westside Gunn making an appearance — Benny rides around his neighborhood in a baby blue Bently while he raps about how crazy his life was in the past and how it affected his loved ones.
“Just like the track, the ‘5 to 50’ video is inspired by real-life events. It’s my side of the story, along with India’s side of the story; and it depicts how those stories collide” Benny recalled to HYPEBEAST. “I bring you to Montana Ave; the block where I am from and illustrate my lifestyle and how some of those lifestyle choices affected India. This was our life and it captures both perspectives.”
Up next for Benny is the upcoming Griselda’s group debut project for Shady Records, What Would Chine Gun Do, which will be released in September.
The Plugs I Met, which was released in June, is one of the best projects of 2019. Thes seven-track EP features collaborations with Pusha T, Black Thought, Jadakiss, Conway, RJ Payne, Alchemist and Daringer. Now under the management of Roc Nation and spearheading his own fledgling Black Soprano Family imprint, The Plugs I Met is further proof that the future is now for Benny The Butcher.
