After digging through Vans’ archives, Saint Alfred found an “Acid” print and applied it to the sneaker’s canvas upper. The acid wash on the exterior gives a nod to Vans’ hometown, as well as Southern California’s surf and skate culture, while the midsole is wrapped with the sneaker brand’s iconic checkerboard print. Released in two colorways, Acid/Black and Acid/Pesto, the sneakers stay true to a local Chicago-based aesthetic while paying homage to Vans’ beginnings. Chicago artist Ben Marcus also collaborated with the Saint Alfred design team to create a limited edition risograph print that will come with any purchase.
The Acid/Black sneaker will be available at Saint Alfred and its sister store KICKS/HI on August 9. If any pairs remain after Chicago store sales, they will be released on saintalfred.com at 2 p.m. EST. The even more limited Acid/Pesto sneaker will only be available in-store.
