Following its monumental collection of KAWS Companions last year, Heritage Auctions continues to gather sought-after artworks with its forthcoming Urban Art sale set to launch at its Chicago outpost next week. Leading the lots is a full-scale bus stop painting by KAWS which the Brooklyn-based artist created in 2001. With only five to seven examples from the series existing, the rare piece portrays the Companion in a black and white composition. Not to mention, KAWS hand-signed and dated the painting at the bottom right corner of the work. Although bidding for the work begins at $350 USD, it’s estimated to sell for $300,000-500,000 USD.

Accompanying the KAWS artwork is a bevy of recent and archival works spanning paintings, prints, sculptures, collectible toys, skate decks, and more. Highlights include Banksy’s ‘Rude Copper’ (2002) print, the BE@RBRICK x Chanel ‘Coco Chanel’ 1000% (2006) figure, and Matt Gondek’s four-foot statue entitled ‘Simpsons Nuclear Family’ (2018).

The Urban Art sale will see live floor bidding at Heritage Auctions Chicago and online at HA.com starting July 22.

In related news, KAWS will launch two concurrent exhibitions at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne this fall.
