Summary

A rare 2005 Porsche Carrera GT finished in Ferrari’s iconic Rosso Fuoco red is heading to Mecum Monterey. Featuring a bare-tub repainting, the 3,471-mile supercar retains its original 603-horsepower naturally aspirated V10 and six-speed manual. Driven by a boom in unique specification supercars, similar low-mileage models regularly command between $2 million and $3.5 million USD.

The 2005 Porsche Carrera GT represents a high-water mark for analogue supercars. Now a distinctly unique example of the legendary vehicle is heading to the auction block. One of only 644 units originally delivered to the US, this specific Carrera GT was meticulously stripped to its bare carbon fiber tub for a concours-quality repaint by Karosserie in Wayne, Pennsylvania. The project utilized modern triple-layer paint technology to apply a striking Rosso Fuoco finish. The metallic red shade replaces the car’s original GT Silver factory paint to create a rare visual crossover between Porsche engineering and Ferrari aesthetics.

Noted Ferrari enthusiast Milton Verret commissioned the transformation. Blending the signature hue of the Prancing Horse with a flagship Stuttgart silhouette could easily misfire. However, the custom exterior perfectly highlights the aggressive lines of the German supercar. Beyond the intensive three-month exterior overhaul, the interior remains immaculate. The cabin features pristine black leather seating alongside the iconic lightweight carbon fiber shift knob. The factory-original hydraulic rear spoiler actuators were also updated with a specially engineered electrical system to ensure modern reliability.

Underneath the removable roof panels, the vehicle retains its original Formula 1-derived 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine. The powerplant delivers 603 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque directly to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a two-disc ceramic dry clutch. Stopping power comes courtesy of four-wheel ventilated carbon ceramic disc brakes paired with six-piston fixed alloy calipers. With just 3,471 miles on the odometer, the mechanical components remain preserved and ready for open-air driving.

Scheduled to cross the block as Lot S74 at the Mecum Monterey auction on August 15, 2026, the customized vehicle arrives during a major surge in Carrera GT market demand. While the vast majority of original models left the factory in standard silver, the appetite for unique and custom-finished examples continues to grow among dedicated collectors. Similar low-mileage models regularly trade for between $2 million and $3.5 million USD, with ultra-rare paint specifications pushing well past the $6 million USD mark at recent sales events.
