A24 has officially released the trailer for Adam Wingard’s upcoming action-horror thriller Onslaught. The film marks a direct return to the high-concept world of Wingard’s 2014 cult-classic The Guest, expanding its shadowy government experiment lore into a relentless slasher-action spectacle.
Written by frequent collaborator Simon Barrett and directed by Wingard, Onslaught follows an Army sniper (Adria Arjona) who must defend her young daughter when a rogue squad of genetically engineered super-soldiers breaks loose in the desert. Wingard described the project as a spiritual continuation alongside You’re Next and The Guest, confirming that the unstoppable killer squad originates from the exact same secret program that spawned Dan Stevens’ character in the 2014 original.
Alongside Arjona, the ensemble cast stars Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, Drew Starkey, Michael Biehn, Reginald VelJohnson, Eric Wareheim, and UFC champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira.
Onslaught arrives in theaters nationwide on September 4.
