Netflix has officially released the first teaser trailer for Below, an upcoming six-part thriller series starring Josh Hartnett. The mystery drama is set to premiere globally on the streaming platform on October 8, 2026.
Created, written, and executive produced by showrunner Jesse McKeown, the series centers on Calvin Penney (Josh Hartnett), a stubborn fisherman living in a close-knit Newfoundland community. Still haunted by his father’s unexplained death decades prior, Penney must fight to protect his hometown and family—including his son Wade (Charlie Heaton)—when an unidentified sea creature begins terrorizing the island. Penney teams up with visiting marine researcher Fonda Howander (Mackenzie Davis) to confront the unseen terror and uncover long-buried island secrets.
Executive produced by Jessica Rhoades, Chris Hatcher, Jamie Childs, Louise Sutton, Sharon Hall, and Hartnett himself, the ensemble cast also features Ruby Stokes as Mary Penney, Kaleb Horn as Noah, Rohan Campbell as Jay Penney, and Willow Kean as Ruth Penney. Blending local folklore with suspense and humor, the drama explores themes of family and community within Newfoundland’s rugged coastal setting.
