Summary

Porsche Cars Australia and the Sonderwunsch department have created a one-off 911 Turbo S titled "Land Down Under" to commemorate the brand's 75th anniversary in Australia

The vehicle features a bespoke two-tone Chromaflair exterior that transitions from Terra Australis Red to Southern Cross Blue in a process that required more than 300 hours of hand-applied craftsmanship

Unique details include a "See ya later mate" message hidden under the active rear spoiler and an interior headliner embroidered with the southern night sky as it appeared over Uluru in 1951

Porsche has officially rolled out the automotive equivalent of a love letter to the Australian outback. Commemorating 75 years of the brand’s presence in the country, the regional division teamed up with the in-house Sonderwunsch customization department to create the one-off 911 Turbo S “Land Down Under.” The celebratory vehicle represents a deep appreciation for the expansive landscapes and dramatic contrasts that define the Southern Hemisphere. Unveiled during a high-profile Sydney debut, the exclusive release merges top-tier German engineering with a heavy dose of cultural iconography.

The undeniable centerpiece of the commemorative sports car is its painstaking exterior finish. Inspired by a deep outback sunset, the bespoke two-tone Chromaflair paint scheme transitions seamlessly from a dusty Terra Australis Red at the lower half into a sprawling Southern Cross Blue across the shoulderline. Formulated specifically for this project, the highly exclusive pigment incorporates reflective aluminum flakes encased in a transparent layer. This allows the exterior to shift colors between desert orange, dusk-sky blue, eucalyptus green and sunrise gold depending on the viewing angle. The breathtaking gradient required more than 300 hours of manual craftsmanship to complete. The automaker even color-matched the 20- and 21-inch Turbo Exclusive wheels in the custom blue hue.

Adding localized flair, the brand tapped contemporary artist Werner Bronkhorst to integrate subtle storytelling elements across the bodywork. A ghosted “75” graphic marks the roof while miniature motifs and native fauna are dotted discreetly around the exterior. The most cheeky addition hides beneath the active rear spoiler, which deploys to reveal the message “See ya later mate” as a fitting farewell for anyone trying to keep pace with the vehicle’s blistering 322-km/h top speed.

Inside the cabin, the rugged natural beauty of the continent continues to dictate the design language. The 18-way sports seats are upholstered in a unique Coolibah Brown leather with white centers and feature over 14,000 individual perforations styled to resemble organic brushstrokes. Dark Night Blue and Neodyme accents frame the interior alongside a custom steering wheel boasting a Kalahari 12 o’clock marker. Hand-finished Australian Silky Oak wood inlays line the dashboard, which also showcases an engraved topographical map of the Blue Mountains. Looking up, passengers are treated to a headliner intricately embroidered with the Southern Hemisphere constellation map that displays the exact night sky as it appeared over Uluru when Porsche first arrived in Australia in 1951.

Beneath the custom aesthetics, the coupe remains a mechanical powerhouse. The car is driven by a 3.6-liter flat-six engine bolstered by dual eTurbos and 400V hybrid technology, pushing 523kW of power to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Following a nationwide tour to showcase the anniversary celebration, the irreplaceable one-off is expected to be preserved permanently within the heritage fleet rather than heading to a public auction.
