Craig Green & Grenson Rejoin for Rugged Oxford & Slip-On Collab
Featuring rope lace detailing and chunky lugged soles.
Craig Green and Grenson have teamed up once again for another round of reinterpreted military-inspired footwear silhouettes.
Following on from SS19’s vulcanized pack and FW18’s elevated black derby shoe, Fall/Winter 2019 presents a duo of Chelsea boot-indebted black leather mid-tops. Dubbed the Black Rub Off Oxford and Black Rub Off Slip-On, the three-time British Menswear Designer of the Year has reworked Grenson’s classic look with a contemporary, utilitarian feel.
Both pairs feature a chunky lugged sole unit and an elastic side panel typically seen on a Chelsea boot. On the Oxford, the side panel appears in a more traditional manner, whereas the Slip-On features a mid-top upper silhouette made from the stretchy elastic material.
The Oxford also features accentuated derby-like eyestays and a set of formal rope laces. Both pairs are finished with a lace rope threaded around the shoe, a rear heel loop and exaggerated detailing on the vamp.
Speaking on the collection in a press release, Craig Green said, “The starting point was the idea of tradition, male footwear codes and what they mean. Taking reference from and combining the structure and detailing of classic styles of footwear, from flip-flops, sandals and spats to worker boots and protective footwear, with the aim to create a season-less shoe.”
