Craig Green Rejoins Grenson for Handmade SS19 Sneakers
Inspired by traditionally vulcanized English gym sneakers.

After delivering more tweaked leather shoes for Fall/Winter 2018, Craig Green and Grenson for a comparatively lightweight offering. Consisting of five distinct iterations, the shoes utilize a similar sheath concept as Green’s past Grenson footwear designs, with a raised portion that partially obscures the laces on the tongue.
Each sneaker is crafted in line with traditional vulcanized manufacturing, in which the shoe is built up by hand; rubber pieces are fused together to create the sole, which the canvas upper is later attached to. Grenson cites traditional British gym sneakers as an influence, keeping in line with the techniques that have been used to create these shoes for over a century.
A strap of webbing runs down the middle of the shoes, straight into a matching rubber panel that recalls Green’s still-forthcoming Nike collaboration. Mostly muted colors ensure that the mostly-white-and-black kicks remain fairly understated, despite the layered uppers and midsoles. A blue, red and black iteration is the sole exception, demanding attention with its bold, contrasting hues..

Meanwhile, Green channeled his love for low-top sneakers into a new silhouette for his Moncler Genius line.
