The New Balance M990BK5 Gets a Velvety Black Finish
Updated with premium textiles.
Last week, United Arrows took the New Balance 990v5 silhouette for a muted charcoal-toned iteration while Junya Watanabe went with a similar take on the same model back in January. Now, the New Balance 990 silhouette is slated to make another appearance, except this time untouched by other labels in the shape of the M990BK5 and in its purest form. This “Black/Silver” take of the M990 is comprised primarily of velvety suede at its uppers, accompanied by breathable mesh. The tongue features a semi-transparent Made In USA label of the American Flag. As the fifth version of the M990, what’s been updated is the “N” logo at the sides enlarged from its preceding v4 model — the “N” logo and the lower heel uses matching reflective fabric. Below are the sneaker’s ENCAP® midsole and Ortholite insole that have been made more angular and straight-edged in this sneaker. Other details include subtle elements like “990” embroidered near the rear and a red “V” stamp at the heel.
The New Balance M990BK5 “Black/Silver” will be available at 9AM EST, May 4 on Sneakersnstuff and will be priced at $199 USD.
