Artist Fabian Oefner Disassembles an Audi R8 V10 for "Disintegration" Image
“The slowest art we’ve ever built.”
In celebration of its special limited edition R8 V10 Decennium, which was announced earlier this year, Audi has teamed up with artist Fabian Oefner to create one of the artist’s signature exploded views of the supercar. The whole painstaking process was documented, and you can watch the magic happen in the disassembly video above. Oefner can be seen carefully taking each component of the R8 apart, and photographing them individually from various angles with a Hasselblad medium-format before digitally piecing together the final image.
It’s not the first time Oefner has created a “Disintegration” image like this. The R8 photo is part of a series by the artist, who also worked with Lamborghini to create an image of the Miura, as well as Porsche, with the Porsche 956 Le Mans prototype, though at that time the artist was using a model instead of a real car.
