Last week, Mozzy continued the rollout for his upcoming album Internal Affairs with the release of a new, Lil Poppa-assisted single known as “Winning.” Now, commemorating the recent Mother’s Day holiday, the West Coast gangsta-rap hero is paying tribute to his closest maternal figure for a new track titled “Legal Guardian/Guardian Angel.”
“Every time I run into somebody, it’s like I’m speaking for the streets. I’m telling their story. I remind them of Pac, ain’t nobody fucking with me. It’s all positive vibes. But it’s like, I want to say, it’s animated positive vibes,” Mozzy recently explained to Okayplayer, sharing some insight into the creative motivations that birth songs like “Legal Guardian/Guardian Angel.” “I feel like I’m the dopest gangsta rapper right now in this present moment. I don’t feel there’s one gangsta rapper out there that could fuck with me, as far as wordplay. I’m not talking about album sales. I’m talking about craft. I’m talking about cook-up … I know can’t nobody f*ck with me, but I been knowing it since I was 15. I been knowing it since 15 years ago.”
You can check out Mozzy’s latest solo release, “Legal Guardian/Guardian Angel,” above. The Sacramento rapper is currently promoting his next official studio project, Internal Affairs; that album is scheduled to hit streaming services and similar platforms at the end of the month on May 31 and is currently available for pre-order via iTunes.
